Why Are Online Games More Addictive?
Most of us surely already have realized that online games are generally what gets people addicted way more often than classical single player games, no matter how cool their story or graphics or playability are. People tend not to play single player games for endless hours, since after some time, artificial intelligence possibilities run out and start repeating themselves, apropous, it eventually results boredom. Or even, in most single player games, there is an aim that you need to do in order to finish the game. You succeed in that endeavor and you finish the game.
Although single player games have started to contain different endings depending on how you reach that goal or which goal you reach, still, as time recedes, and the player keeps playing it, discovering every opportunity every possibility and every course of action, it runs out. Anybody who have played an online game probably have savied that their aim is to depend each player’s goal onto another player so as long as there are different players playing the game people would have different goals. Furthermore, as people that are playing the game changes or increases in quantity, the goals of players, depending on the players that are present also changes and varies endlessly. And what these ever changing goals of players that depend on other players might be? Of course, in general it is to best one another in any part of the game, giving it some appetite as life itself but in way more entertaining scale and environment and events. This, some people considers to be a loser’s job, as they want to win in something imaginary as they loose in something that is real, also known as life itself. But why take this in such discriminative way? People might just be adoring the environment or conditions that the life designed in game offers, maybe they are dreamers, maybe adventurers maybe explorers? We all know that these kind of exotic passions of humanity is at brink of extinction. All the world is explored, shared, a government and law system established so there left little means for people with that kind of ambitions. So, they prefer playing those online games and feeling inside their characters, and it is actually way more effective to do so for online games because there are actually human players around that you usually interact with, which means not artificial intelligence but natural intelligence, right what we see in real world. So, one can try chasing adventures in the game, doing quests, even creating their own quests and doing that all together with also socialisation going on, which deprives them of any boredom, grants relax. So, in online games there are people who count on you to be there when they need something in the game because in most cases, points in it are made to be reached with multiple players rather than one. So, it can be a reason for you to feel obligated to the game because you have in-game friends which count on you. Or maybe, you want to satisfy your ego through besting other players in the game, that can make you feel better from time to time. Or maybe it is easier for you to socialize through the game instead of in real life because of the anonymousity, freedom. Or maybe it can be something that is way different than these but at the end Online games are addictive because they are like real life itself with different concept. And you may love a change, you may love thinking of something else than government taxes or homework or office actions, something that’d relax your mind and make you feel free, feel better.
Therefore, there are over a hundred million people online, that play online games as their weekly routine. Maybe that is supposed to prove that online games are actually addictive in some cases or some people.
